Summer Track Series in Flux
As all good things have to move on, Lamar Strother has hung up his Meet Director clipboard and Mega-phone for the last time, following the Summer Track Classic last July. As one of the founders of the Jacksonville Track Club back in 1975, the seventy four year old has been running the meets since the series started back in 1979. His tireless enthusiasm and promotion of Track and Field will be missed.
Now you can't have a 'Track Club' without at least one Track Meet; it just doesn't seem right. So we have worked out an arrangement with the University of North Florida, were they host four meets this spring and summer, and here are the particulars as of now:
- Dates are May 21, June 18, July 9, and July 23
- There will not be a 'Mile Festival' in 2011
- JTCRunning members can compete for free; NON members entry fees will be $10 per meet per competitor
- Non-members can join at the meets; individual $20, family $25 - cash or checks only !!!!

This is an exciting upgrade venue wise. UNF's Hodges Stadium Track and Field Facility is one of only ten track facilities in the United States with an I.A.A.F. Level 2 or higher certification. It is a Mondo track installed in 2008 by Mondo ITA.
