JTCRunning 's 34th annual Gate River Run had among the men's field the 2008 winner Andrew Carlson (19), 2009 winner, Anthony Famiglietti (120), and the 2010 winner, Mo Trafeh (1). Mo won again in this year, running the exact same time as last year, 42:58. Jennifer Rhines garnered her third victory here in Jacksonville running 49:31.
March 12th: Mo Trafeh took control of the men's field by 10k, finally opening a 27 second gap over the second place finisher, Ben True, who beat third place finisher, Aaron Braun, by only a second. This was Mo's second win at Gate, and his second National Championship this year; six weeks ago he won the 2011 Men's Half Marathon Championship. Likewise, Jen Rhines , took control of the women's field, finished 26 seconds ahead of second place finisher Nan Kennard, who beat third place, Megan Hogan, by only a second. This was Jen's third win at Gate, and, not to sound like a broken MP3 player, this was also Jen's second National Championship this year; six weeks ago she won the 2011 Women's Half Marathon Championship. Her previous Gate River Run wins were in 1998 and 2005.
What's the Big First? This was the first year in Gate River Run history, that more women finished the 15k than men. Seems fitting, considering the next story below.
