2008 Summer Beach Run ...... Finally

Jacksonville Beach - After a two week delay because of a visit from tropical storm Fay, the Summer Beach Run is finally in the books.

Summer Beach Run 2008 Finally Goes
Fay had her way with the beach on August date; Hanna threatened two weeks later but ultimately veered away and Jacksonville was left with a sunny, clear 5 miler on the beach.

Justin Jacobs wins in 28:04, just 14 seconds off his winning time from last year. Brandon Anderson was second and Christopher Haynes came in third.

Women’s winner was a new face in these parts: Sopagna Eap. She was down here from Johns Island, South Carolina according to her entry form (escaping Hanna no doubt) and came through in 30:31. She has a pretty hefty running resume from the West Coast that includes UC Davis and the University of Oregon.  She finished 22nd in the '08 Olympic Marathon Trials.
